Introducing the Secretary General:

Delegates, welcome to CISMUN 2015!

A few quick words about myself: I have been MUNing for several years, and debating for even longer. However, I still have much to learn, and I hope CISMUN can be a platform on which we can all learn from each other. I've participated in conferences on both national and international scales, including the likes of Cathedral Model United Nations and Harvard Model Congress Asia. An ardent fan of Spider-Man, I let the adage “With great power comes great responsibility” govern my actions, as it should yours in and out of committee. I am a person with no passion and every passion, with interests ranging from jazz music to the Star Wars series to comic books.

On that note, I would like to point out the diversity of the committees and agendas in our inaugural session. Here, at Calcutta International School, we strongly endorse the cross-pollination of knowledge; everyone has something to say. That is the philosophy of CISMUN, where to win is to speak.

Introducing the Director General:

Delegates, it is my utmost pleasure to welcome you to CISMUN 2015!

I cannot wait to meet every one of you and ensure that you have the best possible experience here at Calcutta International School. To tell you a little about myself: I'm currently studying in the eleventh grade at Calcutta International School in Kolkata, India. My first interaction with Model UN was in the 8th Grade and ever since then, I've loved it. To me, Model UN is an opportunity for budding diplomats to test out their skills at a very elementary level and it has been crucial in introducing me to global politics and the plethora of issues that we are attempting to solve today.

At school, I've chosen to study biology, chemistry, and business. Though my subjects may not reflect this, I'm extremely passionate about the environment and I hope to dedicate the majority of my time to working towards helping it. Apart from that, I also like to read, watch television shows and movies, as well as play basketball and tennis. I'm always up for a discussion about almost anything and I encourage you to come and find me at some point in the conference.
